snattrass 0 Posted July 14, 2007 Hi, What, if any, kinds of golf power steering pulleys will fit my 16v 1800 rado? Also, can I drive the car with the PS pulley removed so that I can compare the pulley at the scrappy's or does removing the PS pulley make the car undriveable? My PS pulley's buckled! I take it removing the pulley is just a case of undoing the 4 allen key bolts. Thanks, Simon.
davidwort 0 Posted July 14, 2007 most mk2 golfs and a few mk3's use the same pump and pulley, it'll be 'f'-ing hard t odrive with no PAS
coolrado 0 Posted July 14, 2007 it should be ok unless you have air con as well, on vehicles without aircon the v-belt drives the power steering pump only, but on vehicles with aircon the v-belt drives the power steering and the water pump.
snattrass 0 Posted July 16, 2007 Thanks guys. No air con so I'll just get down to the scrappy and get a golf one. Appreciated. Simon.
n3p 3 Posted July 17, 2007 was a complete bastard to remove my pulley! Even several whacks with a rubber mallet didnt do the trick. Ended up having to take the whole pump off before the pulley gave. I had to drive without PAS whilst sourcing parts - didnt realise the C was sooo hard to turn without power steering :(! but good luck mate! I'm sure you'll have no problems, i'm just pretty shi7 in general :)
