VR6*MarkOfTheBeast* 0 Posted August 21, 2007 having just fitted my newly refurbed RS's i noticed that the neaside pair of wheels stick out a good 1-2cm (about half inch in old money) !! http://i163.photobucket.com/albums/t310 ... G_4072.jpg I'm told this is common? I'm using 20mm adaptors and 16x8" rs's...problem is the offside rear sits within the arch and the neaside sticks out too much (pictured) so even with the arches rolled i think i need to lose about 1 or 2 cm's. i know i can get 15mm spacers but is there any other way i can loose a few mm? cheers guys
vwdeviant 0 Posted August 21, 2007 I'd be checking the offset's of all your wheels in that case! And then the adaptors depths... If neither of these then it's the car! :( Sounds like something's defiantely amiss..
herisites 0 Posted August 21, 2007 First of all your car looks fapping gorgeous in that picture! 8) Did you check all the offsets of the wheels to see if they are all the same? What are the offsets? If they are all the same (or atleast front 2 the same and rear 2 the same) then they should all sit the same in the arches, if not then something sounds dodgy! If you just want to lose a few mil then you can have the centres of the wheels milled down slightly or the face of the brake discs milled down a few mil as well. VR6*MarkOfTheBeast* 0 Posted August 21, 2007 cheers guys... all wheels are stamped with the same offset. all adaptors are 20mm thick. I've been told by a good friend and veteran VW fella that MK2's share this issue and it's something to do with road camber? VW speed also said that all vw's stick out on one side more than the other. herisites...do your wheels sit in the arches EXACTLY the same all the way round?..(congrats on the pic of yours in the mag 8) )
Rob Heath 0 Posted August 21, 2007 One of my friends had a corrado vr6 with the same problem, he only noticed it when he put 9x16's on and it used to catch on one side more than the other
