ardandy 0 Posted August 29, 2007 Just tried to start the engine and heard a loud bang/pop. Looked underneath and saw this resting on the downpipe. What is it, can it be fixed relatively easily and should I be really worried? :( Fingers Crossed! :?
Toad 0 Posted August 29, 2007 That was your ISV silencer. Guess you had a heavy backfire which modified it from being the silencer to having been your silencer. Think you need a new one, or some glue. Sorry I'm not more help.
ardandy 0 Posted August 29, 2007 Is this a get another and put on sort of problem or something bigger that caused it? The car hasn't being used for nearly 2 weeks, could that have caused it?
Supercharged 2 Posted August 29, 2007 I think alot of people run without these - a common failure on the VR

Kevin Bacon 5 Posted August 30, 2007 That happens when you get a big misfire into the inlet. Quite common as others have mentioned. You don't need the stupid thing anyway, bin it!
CazzaVR 0 Posted August 30, 2007 Bin it and just buy some hosing to re-route the ISV. Takes about 10 minutes.
