livi1982 0 Posted September 20, 2007 Hi, all. Recently had my valver in getting new wheels and tyres fitted and got the mechanic to look over the car in general. My mate works at the garage so I trust their judgement and they've done previous work well. He gave me a list of work that's gonna need done in the future. Was just wanting opinions on what should be done first and and a rough idea of cost. -Slight movement in both front strut top mountings -Rear handbrake securing clips missing -Handbrake cable frayed -Wear in both front suspension arm bushes -Engine oil sump corroded -Oil leaks ingearbox and cyl head areas -Fuel pipes corroded -Fuel tank securing straps corroded -Oil dipstick tube plastic sleeve broken. I presume that these aren't urgent or they wouldn't have let me take the car back, but they're gonna need done at some time. Just need to know what to do first. andygal 0 Posted September 20, 2007 I would do: Fuel pipes and tank straps Handbrake cable and clips Oil sump + leaks + dipstick Then all suspension bushes. Andy
craigowl 0 Posted September 21, 2007 Greetings from Lithgae, livi1982. At my MOT, advisories that came up each year on my storm were: Play in strut top mountings fuel tank straps corroded Probably not too urgent, but I have had top mountings done. I would say your mechanic is a good one and as fussy as mine. Probably best to go for all the items eventually with the following first: Corroded fuel pipes (VAG garage would not let my son take his VR6 away for safety reasons when he reported this) Regards
Toad 0 Posted September 21, 2007 Fix the dipstick tube now, otherwise you could end up with too much or too little oil.
