jslootweg 0 Posted November 10, 2007 Wow, that bolt is difficult to undo. Its not a reverse threaded bolt is it? Just want to check. I'm struggling to undo it and i'm already using a flipping huge breaker bar. Maybe i just need to put a bit more weight and muscle into it?
steveo29 0 Posted November 11, 2007 normal thread...they are very tight though chances are you will need someone on the brakes with it in gear...and a pole on the bar
jslootweg 0 Posted November 11, 2007 Yeah i would love to do that but the engine in question is on a pallet in my garage. Can't believe how tight that bolt is though.
nocrap 0 Posted November 11, 2007 From previous experience of attempting to undo that bolt and not actually needing to all I can do is agree and suggest that an air ratchet is used.
Crasher 3 Posted November 11, 2007 Out of the car and without the locking tool I can't think of a way of undoing that without an air gun, possibly even a 3/4" drive version.
steveo29 0 Posted November 12, 2007 id suggest you wedge the engine in the corner somewhere where it cant roll about...then sump off use a block of soft wood against the crank to stop it turning
