fla 9 Posted January 8, 2008 Is there any way of removing the gearbox, leaving the engine still in the bay? If so, can anyone kindly give me some pointers? I've taken out the coolant pipes and aux cooling pump, front rads, aircon pump, alternator, slam panel, but the front cross member is still in place. Is it better to do it this way or to remove teh engine and box together - i'm thinking from a time perspective, ie which will be quickest. Plus, the auto box is huge (and heavy!) and i want to avoid moving that AND the engine if possible. TIA.
marcus 0 Posted January 8, 2008 Mine was removed without dropping the engine. 4 mechanics couldnt hold the box and had to let it drop 5 ft., so like you say, its stupidly heavy. Sorry i cant offer any technical/useful help :( . Good luck. Are you going manual now?

Might be on the cards next year. I need to finish off the chains first so once thats completeed i'll look at other improvements, like sorting out rattles and giving it a good old polish again.
