dr_mat 0 Posted November 25, 2003 big advantage of the mk4 is they're all alloy, apparently no rusting, no seizing of the damn handbrake mechnsm. Unfortunately you also need a convertor brake line to attach a mk 4 caliper to a mk3-type fitting. Apparently the attachment is larger. Quote Share this post Link to post Share on other sites
16VG60 1 Posted November 27, 2003 I have replaced a number of expired cast rear callipers on both Corrados and Golfs with the alloy Mk4 callipers, including my own Corrado which uses TT callipers with 280mm vented discs. The only results from this conversion are positive ones. The alloy callipers are far more resistant to the effects of corosion and fit with ease using the same spec pads. The brake lines are easily adapted to accomodate the banjo fittings onto the calliper. This upgrade is thoroughly reccomended and furthermore is not expensive direct from the dealer.
