boost monkey 0 Posted May 11, 2008 My uni friend just got his mk4 golf and although it's still under warranty from the garage I was wondering if the following is an easy fix. Sometimes when he's driving the rev counter will drop to zero and then oil pressure light will start flashing. If he turns the engine off and on again it's fine. Any ideas? It's a 1.6 iirc. I'm guessing it might be something electrical to affect the tacho and a sensor at exactly the same time. Ta, J-unit.
mrbeige 0 Posted May 11, 2008 The instrument clusters are on CAN IIRC, so it would probably be a lose of communication that is doing that :?
boost monkey 0 Posted May 11, 2008 is that the wiring system, like CAN-BUS?
Supercharged 2 Posted May 11, 2008 Maybe ECU relay but you'd expect the engine to cut out, change it anyways tho if original.
Toad 0 Posted May 11, 2008 is that the wiring system, like CAN-BUS? Yarp. Loads less wiring compared to traditional vehicle looms, especially relavant in agricultural and plant machinery where many different sensors, controllers and motors all over the vehicle. Supercharged 2 Posted May 11, 2008 Only the really late MK4's were CAN, if it has a OBD2 plug then it's obviously not.. (CAN systems use a 'Quadlock' connection)
