don_stavrou 0 Posted August 9, 2008 Im doing some research into Engines etc.. and im trying to figure out what difference there is between the KR Head And the 9A Head, does anyone know? i heard alot of people use the KR head when doing the 2.0 16vT.. Any IDeas? Thanks
mrbeige 0 Posted August 9, 2008 Commonly thought that the KR head breathes a bit better as the ports are more open. Furthermore the camshafts are different with the KR inlet cam giving a millimetre more lift over the 9A inlet cam.

flusted 0 Posted August 10, 2008 It all depends on what code is on the head. If im right, the early 16v kr golfs had large inlet ports and smaller exhaust ports and then near 1990 they changed it to smaller inlet ports and larger exhaust ports. Going by this, they may not actually be any differnce between a 9A and a KR head of the same year Think the codes are 051 and 027 IIRC
