You might want to try calling them as they might be able to do something for you. I've managed to persuade the AA before when I had a similar issue with them.

Hi Neil VR6, Is this offer still valid please?

 

I've just had my works AA cover withdrawn (they've stopped the private car additions scheme), so now I'm looking around and would really like Euro cover for my L reg VR6. Really want to do some touring...

Is it the member that is covered or just the car ?

 

How are they covering modified vehicles, e.g. lower than standard etc.

I did ask Neil to see if this was still valid and he was going to check but given that it was not for cars over 16 years old he didnt think it was going to be covering many corrados any more anyway.

I struggled to get reasonably priced cover for my France trip this year, cheapest was well over £200. (L-reg Vr)

 

In the event I took a bag of carefully selected tools and hoped mechanical expertise would sort anything, along with a couple of friends on standby for a quick FedEx of parts.

 

I did suffer a burst oil cooler pipe at the Spanish border so paid E100 to get towed to a garage. They were more than happy to let me strip the front end and I managed to fix it, so still cheaper than cover. Looking back, I reckon cover would have been loads more hassle anyway. My (possibly naive!) view was that if the engine or box blew up, I was shafted anyway, but most other things could be fixed as long as I could get the parts.

 

Next year planning Croatia tho so not sure what we'll do. Might just pay the money this time.
