Supercharged 2 Posted November 12, 2008 Halfords trade cards are available to 'high volume car parts buyers' which will include most of us who do there own servicing, to obtain one, go to your local branch and either speak to the manager or the supervisor on the parts desk taking with you a load of recent reciepts and maybe your CCGB / CGTI membership card if you have one... boost monkey 0 Posted November 12, 2008 Wow, really shows the markup on some stuff doesn't it! Recommend getting a trade card, I've pinched one before just to get some cans of stuff. You'd be surprised how much markup they make / discount for TC holders on the most random items!

rajarella 0 Posted January 21, 2009 My dad has got one of these cards and the savings he makes are huge. Also Halfords price match (at least our local one does) so even if you don't have a card you don't have to pay over the odds. Rich
renson 0 Posted January 28, 2009 well worth getting, i had to do the gf car last night as when i got home she decided to tell me they have been a bit noisey for a few weeks. After inspection the pads were almost gone and the discs were knackered. Went to halfrauds would have cost £71  for an old corsa. With trade card cost £35 all in :)

yeti 0 Posted January 28, 2009 How much are the big metal tool chests trade? :norty: kv even with a trade card it often works out cheeper to wait for their sales and offers on the tool chests o and the card only applies to tools, parts and consumables if i remember right, no doesnt apply to cleaning stuff, paints, chav tat, wheels, stereo's, bikes etc
Supercharged 2 Posted February 3, 2009 kv even with a trade card it often works out cheeper to wait for their sales and offers on the tool chests Don't think thats right - I've checked a few times and when they are on 30% off they only go down to near the trade price... The black industrial tool chest is £138 Trade and the cheapest i've seen it on offer is £145 but it's usually £220 I think... The Black ones are the ones to get though Kev - superb quality and the the drawers have this nice latch mechanism that you've probably seen... They also did the bottom roll cab for £299 with free trays of spanners, sockets and a set of screwdrivers (that was just on offer not trade)

Slimg60 0 Posted September 3, 2009 You can also get a trade card if you hold any form of engineering qualification, I managed to blag on with a Level 3 NVQ in aircraft engineering, didnt even ask to see any proof of it either. With reguards to savings, I got a battery for the corrado at £52 when it was on the shelf at £98
Rob_B 0 Posted September 3, 2009 you do need to be careful with the card, as some things on offer are not eligible for trade. for instance, if you take up their 2 for 1 offer on the headlight bulbs (the brilliance or extra blue things) you wont get money off. you can either have one or the other, but not both as far as i understand. the cards are worth having though, ive got one and you can save alot of money on things like bulbs and blades. but bear in mind, you will almost certainly get them at the same price in a motor factors with a bit of discount. so halfords is good in an emergency. you normally get 15% off tools i think, but the tools are top notch in my opinion
Paulc 0 Posted June 6, 2010 I got one a couple of months ago ,it took some getting Manager wanted to see some proof of being in the trade .The savings on car parts and tools is super ,trade card brings prices down in some cases lower than motor factors,Well worth having
**Ian** 0 Posted June 7, 2010 I have had one for 4 years now, brilliant savings on most things! Though do remember if its already on offer or promotion you only get discount of the normal full price. ie - 10w-40w oil free set of pro screwdrivers at the moment, if you use your trade card you get a few quid knocked of but dont get the screwdrivers free (they charge you £10 for them which is half price)

Motor factors - I find halfords cheaper in almost all cases now, way cheaper than GSF too for Bosch wiper blades! Tools are superb but I've noticed the discounts are not as good now as I think people were abusing the card and selling on eBay. Gunsons and Laser stuff like brake flaring tools, timing lights etc also get nice big discounts... Free screwdrivers - I did manage to get a set once but was blagging it... Usually stick to TPS for Oil though - no where can beat them on price!
KADVR6 0 Posted June 7, 2010 got some nice new wiper blades for the BM on saturday, £35 on the shelf  used the trade card and paid £16 for them.
Jim 2 Posted June 7, 2010 Had similar experiences, getting staggeringly good prices compared to "shelf" price. Batteries are almost half price, and I recently bought a load of bulbs and a set of wiper blades which had a shelf price of £17 all in - only paid £6! It's awesome! Supercharged 2 Posted June 7, 2010 The other thing you guys should do if you use Quidco is regiister your credit card with them. Halfords and a few other places then pay cashback on till transactions and this works with trade card purcheses too... I recently bought the big Industrial top tool chest - was about £143 and a couiple of weeks later I got another £6 cashback.
