davidwort 0 Posted December 5, 2008 the 2L engine will go straight in, but use the 1.8 fuel system and injectors, far easier to take the whole lump out with box attached and swap the box over to the new engine before refitting, you can 'crane in' an engine and box if you remove the bonnet but It's probably easier to remove the front bumper and panels. windyjohn 0 Posted December 5, 2008 Nice one Ive got hoist so I think its of with the bonnet method. Why do I have to change to 1.8 fuel system?
dirtytorque 0 Posted December 5, 2008 As davidwort says ,do yourself a favour and take the box out aswell. It will make re-installation ALOT easier.
Toad 0 Posted December 5, 2008 Take the front off and use the hoist to lift the engine and box out. The front end doesn't take much work to remove, and you'll give yourself a whole lot more room to work. The 2l (9A) fueling is more complicated and temperamental than the K Jet found on the 1.8. It's a nice straight forward swap retaining the K Jet
windyjohn 0 Posted December 5, 2008 Thanks, but I think its the same fuel system, exhuast inlets look same I imagined they were both k jet fueling (with four pipes with banjo fittings that attach to metering unit on top of air box) am I wrong or what. Toad 0 Posted December 5, 2008 If it's a 9A from a corrado, then it will have KE Jet, it's very similar, but it uses a lambda probe and has electronic adjustment of the fueling. The injectors have a different thread to the K-Jet injectors.
