Toad 0 Posted May 21, 2009 Bonjour. I'm after a little bit of a favour, can someone with a late VR6 please measure how far the top of the gear lever moves side to side and back and forth? I'm only worried about 1st to 5th gates, not pushing it as far as reverse. I would do it, but I took the gearbox out the other day...
davidwort 0 Posted May 21, 2009 front to back was 13cm IIRC on the valver, all the parts are the same as the VR. It would reduce to 10cm if I used a cut-and-shut passat relay plate/pivot.
Toad 0 Posted May 21, 2009 Chers David. The reason I ask is that my valver has a lovely short throw and side to side movement, while the VR felt like stiring porridge in a massive mixing bowl. I am going to try fiting an early shift tower/bracketry to the new VR box and see what happens... If that doesn't work I'll just get the angle grinder and cut half the lever off... I'm not worried about not being able to shift quickly or having to put a little effort in, I just want a small movement.
