I hope it aint the same one that I need now ..... !!!!)
pete_griff 0 Posted October 1, 2009 i'm unsure as i frankly know nothing about the 4-cylinder engines in corrados, but...... if you're interested i'll shortly have a certified working helix cltch for a vr6 for sale. i THINK that the vr6 clutch/flywheel is a straight swap for the g60 items, but hopefully someone will confirm that for me. i'm after £150 for the clutch which is a bargain considering it's basically brand new and they cost about £350 if you want one in the box... (the only thing is that it will likely take about another week - not sure if this fits in with your timescale... also you'd have to source a vr flywheel in the mean-time) i'm really sorry to hear you're having all these woes - talk about it all coming at once!!! that's properly crap for you also - i know it's EVEN MORE MONEY, but seeing as you're going to all these lengths with the engine, it will DEFINITELY be top priority to make sure the charger is all A-OK and itsn't going to grenade itself anytime soon. i'm sure you know that if the charger did f*ck up, then it would most likely take the rest of the engine with it and you would be back exactly where you are now... G-Werks are the people to speak to about charger rebuilds, in all fairness if you can afford it, then now would be a good time to send them the charger as it's already off the car. please keep us updated with progress - good luck :D

MuckinFunkee 0 Posted October 8, 2009 r u goin to swap the engine on the drive ? if you are and need any help i can lend a hand glad to see this has been resolved bet its drivin you mad not to be able to drive your new baby mort Hi Mort, Your right its killing me not driving the car, especially with only having owned the thing for a couple of mths!! I just keep stealing Lees though, thats the beauty of having 2 I suppose Goin to get the engine on Saturday, Lee is gutted cos he is workin and cant go with me  Not doing it on the drive as the car is already in the garage with the engine removed so just going to get him to drop the new one in, though you do know that now you have offered to help you will be called on if anything else happens dont you  Thanks, H x
Novastrike 0 Posted October 9, 2009 Hi Munkin, I am looking at purchasing a Corrado as a replacement for my X-type Jag that had a very similar issue. The Timing chain slipped off (after 62K) and ruined the engine. After shopping around I got a new engine for £1100 but when he had it out, it was much more cost effective to have the flywheel, clutch, filters and plugs changed. Three days after getting it back, the starter motor went and then it developed a misfire which was due to a faulty ignition coil and a faulty Air flow sensor. All in All the car cost me £3300 to buy (3 months ago!!) and a further 2.5k to get it back on the road. I sincerly hope that you get your car back shortly and I really really hope that a Corrado VR6 proves to be somewhat cheaper and more reliable then my 3L X-type JP
MuckinFunkee 0 Posted November 2, 2009 Hi everyone, Ive decided I have sulked enough and achieved nothing from it so I thought I would update this, here goes ...... Right, the new engine is in YAY !!! it is an absolute peach, couldnt be more happy, while it was being done, the mechanic checked the supercharger, decided it was making "funny noises" when he was taking it off some bolt or another sheared off :censored: and needs to be drilled out before it can be properly mounted again, so it is currently sat there with a crackin engine and a disconnected charger I NEED ADVICE HERE - the mechanic has put the charger back in place apart from this one bolt and not put the belt back on, he has told me to drive it for 500 miles to give the engine chance to do anything it might want to do, basically how safe am I to drive my car with the s charger in place but no belt on it? sounds dodgy to me  Thanks, H x
casual 0 Posted November 2, 2009 mechanically ul be fine. the charger basically just forces more air into the engine. however you will be down on power big time and running very rich. so im guessing it wont help the pussycat in ur exhaust and ur plugs. just like to add. i feel ur pain. :(

Really I thought I was doing it loads of harm, It is down seriously on power, I got left by a corsa :pale: I just did this "im not racing u cos I know I could have u" look at him lol and luckily its old enough to be decat so no worries there, its still doin 35mpg so not too bad there either, thanks for that casual, I feel a bit better now xx
MuckinFunkee 0 Posted November 26, 2009 Hey, thought I better post here as keep bumping into people who are asking about the car, The good news is its finally sorted    Its had a new engine, had the charger rebuilt, mot'ed it just for the hell of it and it flew through so now its officially no longer a lemon!! .... and it goes like "poo off a shiny shovel"  Does anyone else find it strange how these cars break down on you cost you a small fortune but as soon as you pull off in them once they are fixed its all forgotten and forgiven, I must be :cuckoo: lol anyway till the next time it causes me heartache im officially Happy !! MuckinFunkee 0 Posted January 7, 2010 how's it going now, hopefully still ok?! Hey you  , Hows things with you and "blue car" going ok I hope! Things are ok with my g60 now running really well, I broke the passenger door handle today though trying to open it while the door was frozen shut :epicfail: think I might have read something about a kit to fix handles on here ...... Have moved back to Notts cos Lee and I have decided to go our separate ways but at least in means the car gets a good run to Derby for work every day now ... every cloud has a silver lining Need to get my 2ltr 8v up for sale soon really cant justify owning, maintaining and insuring 2 and driving one, my mates 300zx is off the road though so he is driving the 8v round for me so it dont seize or owt ... might ask him to buy it cos he loves it lol Let me know when u are back on the road and we will sort a proper Notts meet up seeing how u missed the last one! Take care, speak soon, H xxx
