Jay16valver 0 Posted January 4, 2010 Hi all im buying some new rims for my 16v and was wondering whats the best profile for a 16 inch wheel. i currently have 17s with 205/40s and have AP coilovers fitted so as you can guess its quite a hard ride. I was wondering if a 45 profile would be comfier than a 40 but would i loose much cornering performance??? as at the moment its amazing round the twisties. I will be fitting toyo t1r's by the way no budget crap. any advice would be greatful :D
emu 0 Posted January 4, 2010 40 looks better, 45 is a bit more comfortable, had both of them and prefer
mimjed 0 Posted January 4, 2010 Handling 45 would prob be better as theres a bit more give in the walls. I ran 35 once, very skittish. Wasnt for me.
mariojoshi 1 Posted January 4, 2010 45 with a slight stretch is perfection IMHO! What width are your wheels?
Critical_Mass 10 Posted January 4, 2010 45 with a slight stretch is perfection IMHO! What width are your wheels? Would running 195 instead of 205 give that little bit of stretch?
Jay16valver 0 Posted January 4, 2010 the wheels are 16x8 so quite wide but not over the top, im not to bothered about stretching the tyre as ive heard storys about the tyre poping off the rim when hard cornering (something you need to do in a 16v to keep up with u vr6 boys lol) and theres more chance of you wrecking your rim if you kerb it :pale: (fingers crossed that never happens) thanks to everyone for your advice so far
mariojoshi 1 Posted January 7, 2010 I'm running 195/45/16s Toyos on my 8" Porsche teledials and they look absolutely bob on and are comfortable enough ride wise. Never had any problems with a slight stretch, and it helps them tuck under the arch nicely. NOT going to open up the stretching debate here.
