ger040 3 Posted March 19, 2010 i have got my corrado now going but i have noticed a problem with the gearchange - if iam quick with the gears instead of engaging first i sometimes engage reverse - ouch! - the gear box itself is fine with no noises or crunching when engaging gears just generally slack - do i need a new cable arrangement or is there an easy or cheap way to rectify this - thanks
CazzaVR 0 Posted March 19, 2010 Could be as simple as the circlip on the side of the gearstick (under the gaiter) being missing. Only a few p from VW. Try the search- there are several threads with pics about this. Other than that, it maybe worth changing the gear oil and giving the cable a bit of adjustment. There's a sticky 'how-to' for this. I had a similar prob and replaced/did all the above + change my cables as they'd been resting on the 4-branch manifold and were half melted through  So it's worth giving the cables a good visual check to make sure they're OK.
