Gilb666 0 Posted May 31, 2010 Hi everyone I've had my VR6 around 6 months now, and have had a strange squeak almost since day 1 It only happens when i'm going straing or to the right, even the slightest bit to the left stops it, and it also stops when accelerating Squeek seems to get faster related to road speed, and does not stop when breaking or pressing the clutch I've had CV joints and wheel bearings and water pump replaced at the recommendation of my local vw specialist, and also a front calliper as that had seized The car was quet for a day or two after replacing both the wheel bearing, and the calliper, but always returns. The noise appears to be coming from the front right wheel. please help as its driving me insane! :cuckoo: Thanks in advance Marcus
Supercharged 2 Posted June 1, 2010 Welcome to the forum - would have thought any decent garage or MOT type place should be able to find this on the ramp... Worth taking to a trusted garage or even a local Kwik Fit and getting it diagnosed for free.
Gangstarr 0 Posted June 1, 2010 have you tried tightening the power stering belt ? if not whilst the car i running squirt some wd40 on the belt and if the squeek disapears then all you need to do is give the belt a tighten think its a 13m nut you should be able to get to it without jacking the car up aswell just behind the drivers side wheel. Gilb666 0 Posted June 1, 2010 The car has been to my local garage, who couldn't figure it out, and refered me to my local VW specailist, JBS auto designs car has been to them several times (they did most of the work listed above) each time, within a few days, the noise returns. Supercharged 2 Posted June 1, 2010 I'd be tempted to go back to JBS then - It could be the disc is warped on the side the caliper was binding or the pads are glazed and need sanding and also the carrier cleaning but they should have done all this when the caliper was done... If you want a second opinion just chuck it into KwikFit for a free brake check

Initialy a squeak did seem to be coming from around there, but was quiet after the water pump was replaced. since the noise now only happens when i'm moving, its so difficult to be sure where its coming from. i had (possibly prematurly) dismissed this as the noise happens when i'm going dead straight. @supercharged - Thanks for the advice dude, i didn't know they did free tests on things like that! I'll be booking it in there!
mr lobitos 0 Posted June 1, 2010 from an independant, kwik fits"free"brake checks usually don't end up being free, be prepared and don't give in to any well trained sales patter!!!
Gangstarr 0 Posted June 25, 2010 did you find out what the squeek was i think mine is developing one comes & goes doesnt matter what speed your going 0-60 anywhere inbetween seems worse round corners the odd time & the noise fades when you dip the clutch . edd 0 Posted July 4, 2010 has this been resolved as i have exactly the same issue and it is drving me potty. squeak almost certainly from cv joint/discs/bearing noise from frone left. only apparent off-load and on dead straight or turnng to right. as soon as you accelerate i.e. on lad noise will disappear. Had though discs on carrier sbut have grinded down lip to no avail...
sprinterVR6 0 Posted October 29, 2010 Had exact issue myself. turns out it was the 'drive flange' ( ) it had to be shaved a bit but seems to be working fine now :ignore:
