Supercharged 2 Posted July 14, 2010 Was 3 for 2 now BOGOF so good time to stock up on Meguirs / Autogylm / Zymol etc as it's cheaper than anywhere else. This includes the Clay bar kits and the High Def wax but annoyingly doesn't cover the Rain-X glass cleaner for some reason... http://www.halfords.com/webapp/wcs/stor ... swiftkid 1 Posted July 14, 2010 They always have the wrong deals when i need em! bought 2 products and couldn't find anything else i needed so just bought something random. talking about rain-x, think i bought the wrong one, i bought the cleaner and rain-x in one and i think its utterly garbage. sprayed it on loads of times and the rain just sits happily on my rear window, even when driving. Guest Posted July 14, 2010 No offence mate but how squeeky clean is your rear window? rainX, and no doubt others, works wonders but it has to have perfectly clean glass to start with. Steve - Thanks - I know Kip is out of tar remover (can't think where it's all gone :? ) so will pop out for some later. Plus a few other things I'm sure we both need loads of.
big ben 10 Posted July 14, 2010 its a good offer, but the prices of stuff like AG SRP is a joke, you can get it half price on fleabay delivered to your door... HD wax is spot on for 20 quid though i must admit edit: oh and forget rain-x, there is a lot better products out there, gtechniq and nanolex for starters. i would say get the gtechniq http://gtechniq.com/shop/3s-for-cars/ki ... creen-kit/ as used by world rally teams :)
swiftkid 1 Posted July 14, 2010 No offence mate but how squeeky clean is your rear window? rainX, and no doubt others, works wonders but it has to have perfectly clean glass to start with I did it just after a clean involving snow foam, rinse with jet wash, wash with megs shampoo, another rinse with jet wash then dried with towel then shammy. So yea it was pretty clean  Think i'll be trying a different product but at the moment, that car has made me skint enough so i shan't be investing anymore money in it. coullstar 0 Posted July 14, 2010 You guys clean your cars....
Guest Posted July 14, 2010 But there's cleaning.. snow foam etc and there's cleaning clay bar, paint cleaner & polish etc. Likewise windows. A snow foam etc will clean but if years of contaminants have embedded themselves specific glass cleaners (and no doubt plenty of elbow grease) will be required. Coulstar - you've seen Kips recent Nugget cleaning on his members gallery. He is definitely of the 'cleaning' car owning variety as opposed to the mod it to look 'great' 8) or mod it to drive fast  type. Each and everyone to their own

Something to do with space suit technology IIRC? Some chemical they've come up with that mimics a plant that deflects dirt and water and a microscopic level. Always fancied a can of it....if it existed in the retail world!
big ben 10 Posted July 14, 2010 to do windows you just need to give them a clean and a good clay tbh. then add sealant... Fk 1000p will do perfect for side/rear windows topped with fk425 :) kev, i dont know if its the same, i doubt it is, but all their coatings are top notch and very specialised so its as close as you can get. edit: if anyone wants to know the "best" wheel sealant i know it to
Guest Posted July 14, 2010 edit: if anyone wants to know the "best" wheel sealant i know it to  Go on then. It's always good to hear recommendations. P.S. Just back from Halford with an armful of stuff :D Oh yeah, and its not 1 free of another of what you just bought but buy a car cleaning chemical product and get any another sort free
coullstar 0 Posted July 14, 2010 Im acutally jealous of you guys with outside taps etc to properly wash your cars. The joys of living in a city centre I suppose for me.
Jim 2 Posted July 14, 2010 Thankfully I picked up some bargains at Inters on Autoglym car cleaning stuff - got 2 for a tenner on their green car shampoo which was also 100% extra free! :)
4eyes2wheels 0 Posted July 26, 2010 Think this is a July offer and may therefore run out on Friday. I bought £55 worth of stuff and it only cost me £32. Might have to stock the garage shelf with some Super Resin Polish and the soft top on the wifes broom stick could do with some cleaner and condition being applied to it. big ben 10 Posted July 26, 2010 Go on then. It's always good to hear recommendations. this stuff is the best wheel sealant, only takes car shampoo to clean them for a few months after application, then take them off and re apply :D autoglym wheel sealant is one of their worst products imo... they do have a few crap ones thats for sure http://www.planetpolish.com/index.php?m ... ducts_id=5 Im acutally jealous of you guys with outside taps etc to properly wash your cars. The joys of living in a city centre I suppose for me. you can use ONR, it only needs a pump sprayer and a bucket. I actually use it ALL the time, i havent got outside tap, but i still used at my last place which did as its so good. It cleans better than shampoo, doesnt leave "swirls" in the paint and leaves an awesome shine due to its polyer content. It actually leaves a small amount of protection down, and it softens the water so you can dry it straight away and leaves no water marks. This stuff is the future and i have happily used it for nearly a year. Here is a video of how to use it and some more info on it. http://www.detailingworld.co.uk/forum/s ... p?t=116032 http://www.cleanyourcar.co.uk/washing-a ... d_773.html
