Slimg60 0 Posted August 11, 2010 I have searched but been unable to solve my query. I am looking at swapping my Borbets for a new set of wheels. The ones I want are 17x7 with an offset of 15. Mine are 16x7.5 ET33. I dont really understand the whole offset thing, I just know that it effects how far a wheel will tuck/poke in an arch. Will the new wheels I'm looking at sit further out or in than my current wheels? And if they is further in, will they clear my brakes? This is on a G60 (4 stud) hub. Cheers Slim
dukest 0 Posted August 11, 2010 They'll sit 12mm further out. Brake clearance is down to wheel design, not just offset, but with ET15 theres very little that woudlnt fit i would think.

dukest 0 Posted August 11, 2010 ET works in reverse - so 33 is further in than 15. The difference between 33-15 = 18. 7.5in - 7in = half an inch or 12.5mm. Call it 12mm which means 6mm narrower on each side of the wheel. So take 6mm off the 18mm to get 12mm. I'm trying to work out a way to write this up so everyone can work it out! domwells27 0 Posted August 11, 2010 Check out this calculator: http://www.1010tires.com/WheelOffsetCalculator.asp Always useful to calculate wheel poke and inner clearance, I can't get my head round the numbers either.......

bristolbaron 10 Posted August 11, 2010 they'll be fine.. wont cause you any issues with scrubbing if you go for a 205/40 and the brakes wont cause a problem unless the faces curve in dramaticaly..
