New front discs and pads

Recommended Posts

Hi guys,

just fitted a new set of discs and pads on the front of my VR6 and they still seem as bad as the old set. I know they take a while to bed in but I thought they would have even been a little bit better than the old ones. When I brake hard the car doesnt come to a fast stop it more a gradual thing even at slow speeds and that was with the old setup and im still getting that with the new setup. the brake pedal feels spongie and is not far off from touching the floor. Can anyone give me some advice on this please as I dont really know much about cars.

Thanks

Welcome to the forum, they will need a good couple of hundred miles to bed in and then get better for the next 300...

If it's actually spongey then that's more of a fluid issue, when was it last changed?

Totally agree the fluid needs checking. Over time brake fluid absorbs air/moisture and results in poor braking and spongy pedal.

I'll say it needs bleeding, or bleeding more.

Corrados are a pain to bleed the brakes imo. Tried doing it thoroughly just for them to still feel slightly spongy. Eeazy bleed kit is a good option or take it to VW.
