NewbridgeJob 0 Posted November 30, 2010 Right, just had my chains done and on the way home from the garage I notices that there is still a bit of rattle there It's loads and loads better than before but was just wondering if they'll get any quieter as I use them more? Does it take a bit for the oil to fully circulate around everything Cheers!
robrado974 1 Posted November 30, 2010 starting up from cold yea the tappets sound abit noisey ,but within 5 seconds or so the oil will reach them and the engine should be quiet .how many miles are on the car ?
fla 9 Posted November 30, 2010 the chain tensioner bolt needs to be primed before fitting and the tappets need oil in them to circulate, which i hope your garage did. If thats ok, then its just a question of oil filling all the galleries again so it'll likely quiten down once it all warmed up and circulating.
NewbridgeJob 0 Posted November 30, 2010 Doesn't appear to be a tappet sound it's deffo the chains I know they're meant to make a bit noise so perhaps I'll just see how it goes They're a VW specialist so I assume they'd have known to re prime the bolt but I'm taking it back to them to sort a drop link so maybe I'll get them to have a look at it
