v8rumbler 0 Posted September 12, 2011 Rob I feel your pain--- been there in the past with other cars. One mistake I have made before is to buy a new part and assume that it will work. Don't forget the possibility that the 'new' crank sensor could be faulty. The other thing to check is the wiring from the crank sensor. If that is faulty the ECU will not receive the required info. robrado974 1 Posted September 12, 2011 Yea you are right darren its another thing to check . You just dont expect to buy a new part and its faulty though , it must happen i spose . I only got it because the vagcom showed it as a fault . I bought an ecu on fleebay last night for a score , thought for that sort of dough if mines dodgy at least i have one to replace it .Hopefully chris will be able to find the fault with the meter . I know matt has a good rep at volkscraft in exeter, but you have to get the car to him , so would have to get it up there , it might come to that. robrado974 1 Posted September 16, 2011 Did all the checks from rw1[chris], tonight with langers . Everything has 12v except pin 23 on ecu. Then cleaned the multiwire plug . We were just about to go when chris said give it a turn anyway ,and she started !. So mabe dirt in a plug we cleaned or by moving a wire thats dodgy it has connected and solved the problem. So just need to find out what pin 23 does and what wire we disturbed. Big thanks to rw1 for all his help, and to langers with the meter .regards Rob

RW1 0 Posted September 16, 2011 Glad to hear :thumbleft: Well done you two! Pin 23 is the 12 volts switched, that comes in from the ECU relay 109. So it must be there for the engine to run. .

owen g60 10 Posted September 16, 2011 I had a similar situation with my G60 a couple of months ago. Tried everything to get it going... it even spent 2 weeks in with a VAG specialist to no avail... swapped everything spark and fuel wise out including the ECU. Nothing worked for it :( After having it returned home by the garage... they didnt charge due to not fixing it, my mate came round with his VR and suggested we try jump leads one more time to see if it would work.... Nearly fell over when it sprang into life... guess it just needed some Rado company to make it feel better :D
Chris Langdon 0 Posted September 17, 2011 to be honest i did threaten it with scratching it and living out doors for the winter plus no 98 octane fuel when your back was turn Rob lol;)
