Seems like my car is all running fine so Im looking to give it a bit more go under the bonnet. Nothing serious but would like a set of cams, maybe a flowed head, 3.68FD.

Apologies, I missed this, work has been pretty mental in the last week or so. It is a GMS head, it happens to be a late version (OBD2) with the larger oil draindown on the sprocket end, but both type are interchangeable.

 

It was sold as part of a full engine conversion that I have the paperwork for. Unfortunately the rest of the engine was dead due to a cracked block. The engine had done circa 40k.

What work was done on the head i.e. flowed, ported, bigger vaves etc? Not quite up to speed with the oil draindown, would it be a direct fit to the Corrado block?

Hi there,

 

This would indeed be direct fitment to the corrado block. The head is ported with three angle seats. Grant built a number of VR6 motors for the VW cup and some of the highest known output NA cars run his engines so with regard to the work done on the head, and engine building in general, he knew what he was doing.
