ays80 10 Posted December 11, 2011 (edited) Hi All, I'm Ali! A couple of weeks ago I bought my third Corrado - a Black 16v'er, '89, with two little old lady owners from new (quite literally a little old lady - she bought it as an ex-demo, then when she passed away in 2002, it was left to her elderly daughter, whom I bought it from.) As such, it's totally factory standard, which is so nice! It's got a gorgeous book full of stamps, every 6months from new. I love it, especially the heated seats! It's not immaculate - as the previous owner lived by the sea, there is a bit of corrosion on the bottom of the drivers door, and the drivers door handle is broken (anybody got any suggestions for a replacement or a repair kit?) As for me, I work as Head of Marketing for a dealership group (tragically not VW) down in Kent. I also work in Motorsport hospitality doing VIP tours. I've heard that there is a group that meet at Brands Hatch once a month? Any other people? Would be great to hear from anyone! I want to get her up to gorgeous condition, maybe invest in new alloys and tidy the bodywork up, but it won't be a daily runner, as I want to keep the mileage down. Hope to hear from you soon! 24V Renshaw 0 Posted December 11, 2011 Welcome. Sounds like a good base. Get some pics up and some more details about the car. With regard to the door handles Dave16v on here does replacement levers for the door handle which is probably all thats broken. Its a common Corrado issue. ays80 10 Posted December 11, 2011 Brill, thanks for that, I'll PM him yeah? I will get some pics up soon (although I am rubbish at pictures!) If any of you happen to go to any of the Time Attack / European Drift Championship / Modified Live events, then it will likely be there with me! ays80 10 Posted December 11, 2011 Gerry Atkinson's Time Attack car - Sneaking a 5 minute break! It's a Civic iirc... although I wait to be corrected! ---------- Post added at 09:09 PM ---------- Previous post was at 09:06 PM ---------- Nope, it's a Seat Leon... observation not my strong point clearly! I've heard that there is a group that meet at Brands Hatch once a month? Any other people? Car sounds great & welcome to the forum.. tell me more about your jobs! VIP tours of where!? There is a meet at brands hatch by 'Prept' http://www.prept.co.uk/forums/ I'm not on their forum but have been to quite a few meets considering the distance! It'll be fairly quiet this time of year but some of the summer meets can be great. looking forward to pics! Baz
ays80 10 Posted December 11, 2011 Yes, that is it - Prept... an old old friend told me about them. I'll try to find out more and maybe head down there. As for the jobs - I'm responsible for all the marketing activity for a multi-site franchise group, looking after Nissan, Vauxhall, Chevy, Fiat, Alfa Romeo & Daf Trucks. It's a great job, I love it. I used to do car sales for Skoda & Nissan too. As for the VIP stuff - I look after VIP's and corporate guests (and lots of other stuff as well really) at Time Attack when it's at circuits all over the UK. As a result, I have great relationships with the racing drivers and sponsors etc. It's a lot of fun!
robo22sri 10 Posted December 11, 2011 The prept meet is the last Wednesday of each month. Last time I went it was not on :( so we all went blue water instead
Jim 2 Posted December 11, 2011 Welcome aboard! What's the plans for the (rather nice, original sounding) car - going to keep it original? :)
ays80 10 Posted December 11, 2011 Hi Jim, I'm not too sure... I haven't got masses of cash to throw at it, so will do the best I can on a limited budget. First thing is remote central locking... cant be dealing with actual keys in locks! It seems harsh, but I may get a new head unit. The original Blaupunkt cassette player is in there at the moment, but I think I want one with Bluetooth. Possibly want nicer alloys as well at some point - the original ones are still on there, but would prefer something a bit dished... It's a struggle, as I don't want to 'modify' it ideally. Ooooh, and it may need a new exhaust at some point soon-ish, I think the current one is on it's way out...
seafar99 10 Posted December 12, 2011 Hi Alison, I'm a newbie here too after just buying a corrado. I was on support team duties 2 years ago with one of the 'impreza' time attack teams. So we may have crossed paths. Can't say i'm a fan of the 'drift series' but each to there own. Welcome. craig.
ays80 10 Posted December 12, 2011 Oh the drifting is Amazing... if you get up close when they are doing their thing, it's very impressive the angles that they get with the cars. For me, it's a real 'take your breath away' motorsport, but for spectators as well as participants... But then I do usually blag the best seats- in the judging box! The Subaru teams are on good form at the mo... loving the work of John Mathers and Pro-R. Ali ---------- Post added at 08:47 PM ---------- Previous post was at 08:38 PM ---------- Oh, and in other news, I took the Corrado into work today, and she popped a radiator hose.., 'spose it's lucky I work at a garage really! They haven't looked too closely yet, but they are also gonna give it a winter check.
seafar99 10 Posted December 12, 2011 If the corrado rad hose was still the origonal then it's probably best to change it anyway as they start to deteriate from the inside.
