Blue Smoke

Recommended Posts

It's your valve stem seals mate, relax!

You can do the stem seals without even lifting the head, if you've got access to an air line?

As the other chaps said, you'd have smoke all the time if you had bore wear.

How do you manage that then, save the VR6 guys a fortune?

you need a spark plug size airline connector, put it in place of the spark plug ,connect to the airline and put air pressure in the cylinders thus holding the valves in place allowing the stem seals to be replaced, but from what ive been told its best to replace the guides at the same time which you need to remove the head to change so i believe :?

Yep!

If the guides are still within tolerance you can get away with just seals but if they're knackered, then you're on borrowed time because the valves running off centre will just eat the seals away again.
