Making progress. 94 VR6

Hey,

 

Been wanting to get round to doing a thread about my build so far but have taken ages getting round to it so here goes.

 

Haven't had the best of luck with her so far, started a thread in the new members bit about it being a total lemon but i'm finally starting to get my confidence in her back. Had what seems like a massive amount of work done on her and still feels like i've only sratched the surface, giving me so much respect for anyone who's fully refurbished or built a show car, mental amounts of work, lol. anyway, the goal has always been to build her back to how she would of driven in 1994, but with some fairly major comprimises made with regard to styling. essential i've always loved that low, clean, staggered phat wheelskind of look, i think euro is the correct term:shrug: I know it'll probably mess up, to a degree that fabled handeling, but it'll still drive great, with loads of grip and in my eyes the comprimises are worth it for how it looks...eventually.

so here's what i've had done so far:

(all parts are genuine volkswagen parts if not otherwise stated....)

powdercoated front subrame

driveshafts, front hubs shotblasted and painted

new wheel bairings front and back

new front wishbones

new topmounts and bearings front and back

new Brembo disks all round

greenstuff pads

goodridge braided lines all round

droplinks, balljoints, track rod ends and every bolt clip and bracket replaced

vibratech solid front, fast road rear and gearbox mount

overhauled engine, sourced 2.8 VR from stealth racing, has had new chains, tensioners, head rebuild, new headgasket, new clutch and all the other internal sensors replaced. Only had 70, 000 miles on before work, pulls really sweet.

every coolent sensor changed including the black box by the expansion tank

new heater matrix

fixed sunroof

retrimmed headling with my mates for £30's worth of black felt and some spray glue, sprayed all switches, casings and visors black as well, looks really good if i do say so myself, lol!

had a BMC CDA fitted

Magnecor leads(one of which i broke and haven't got round to replacing, tool.)

Samco coolent hoses

new alternator, waterpump, radiator, coilpack

oh the Keskin KT1's, love them, just need her a tad lower to look spon on...arch work required...

oh yeah, rear beam dropped, new bushes fitted, not sprayed yet, bit of a drama involving me shotblasting and spraying a beam that turned out to be the wrong one...

new coppper lines at the back

new front splitter

and i think that's it for now, probably some stuff i forgot, anyway seats are waiting to go in, need rear bench trimmed and bodywork done first.

Big thanks to a few guy's on here who have helped me with parts, lilfuzzer is one i forget the other and recently someone who is saved in my phone as Dave ECU came to the rescue after a multitude of issues were traced to a faulty ecu. got the car running awesome. and on a broader note found this website to be invaluable, learnt so much just from reading posts, and also learnt my problems are not new ones, lol! So thats it, there's some photo's below, on the girlfriends iphone so there not the best. any comments would be sweet.

also anybody got or know of anybody selling a supercharger or obd2 setup let i know, laters guys.

I think 8vMatt had an OBD2 setup unless he's sold that now - might be worth pm'ing him.

Hey, the seats were originally from an escort rs turbo, got them retrimmed from a bloke i found on ebay of all places, I think the company is called coverall. going to use the subframes from my original seats and mount them on the new ones...we'll i won't, but the garage will, lol.

your bonnet release is a realy easy fix, its up to you obviously if you want to source an original release cable but you could have this fixed for under £15.00 and will probably last longer then oem too ,

yea its prety easy , you will need to start at the lever release in the car think i had to un bolt it, was like 2 or 3 bolts i think?, once you have removed the old inner wire you can thread the new one through the loop in the lever and then into the engine bay, and then through the bonnet release loops but you will need cable stops on the the loops for the outer cable otherwise when you pull the lever nothing will happen, i'll try and get a pic of how mine is , just make sure you got a good set of wire cutters handy and lube up the inner cable so it stays hassle free , this job was one of the first things i had to do on mine...
