VEEDUBBED 0 Posted April 12, 2012 Right guys, Been ages since i last went out in my 'raddo but i've been wanting to sort out an issue that's always been present, ripping up engine and gearbox mounts! Whats everyone doing to resolve this bloody problem? i'm thinking Vibratech or something similuer but i don't want harse vibes in the cabin. Suggestions? maybe the old golf ralley had uprated mounts fitted? TDI mounts off a mk3 golf?
Swompy 0 Posted April 12, 2012 I have VT mounts on my 24v conversion and havn't noticed any increase in vibration in the cabin.
Bazmcc 0 Posted April 12, 2012 Solid front mount, MK2 TD gearbox mount, and aftermarket engine damper is what you need. I've seen one on a 650bhp VR6 and it stopped it ripping up mounts.
davidwort 0 Posted April 12, 2012 OEM rear mount - the engine torque doesn't really affect this mount much as the engine pulls back onto it (this is the one that really transmits tons of vibration if too firm on a 4cyl rado) standard or diesel mk2 GB mount, poly if you don't mind some extra vibration vibratechnics or similar front mount, solid front would vibrate on a 16v and soon crack the mounting bracket, the vibratechnics one will vibrate a little at idle but shouldn't be noticeable when driving (I have one on 16v)
Anton Sobriquet 0 Posted April 12, 2012 VT race, not the fast road, front with other VTs and polybushed all round I have no vibration at all, just a very solid feeling VR6. Engine damper looks like a way to go for big power.
