Sensor on vr6 radiator.

Recommended Posts

Does the screw in sensor have any sort of sealing ring or gasket, or does it just screw in and forms it own seal?

Replace mine on Friday and wondered the same thing.

Found no gasket on the old one, no gasket on the diagram in Bentley manual and the new one has stayed water tight after a 400 mile round trip to Wales and back.

I Just made sure both surfaces were clean and tightened to the right torque - 35NM

Yeah, there's supposed to be a fibre washer on there, about 1.2mm thick.

Agreed, I bought one with the sensor a month back.

Anyone got a part number for that?

The guy at Reading VW got fed up with me bothering him for a little washer. All he could find was the contacts housing.

I'll take a look at my receipt when I get home.

I just used an O ring from one of those Rolson "4 billion O rings for a fiver" boxes which has been fine for 50K miles so far.

Going to buy the big assorted box as the ones i have at home are older than me
