robo22sri 10 Posted July 18, 2012 What is better? A plastic rocker or a metal rocker cover for a vr6? Cheers Rob
VR6Pete 0 Posted July 18, 2012 I beleive the only benefit the plastic one has over a metal one is that it reduces some of the engine noise.... most people go for the metal ones over the plastic for looks if they polished them up... but i beleive the studs are different between the 2 so bare this in mind is swapping. daves16v 1 Posted July 18, 2012 In terms of weight there is very little between them.
robo22sri 10 Posted July 18, 2012 I had my rocker cover changed the other day and it's pi55ing out near the coil pack! I was wondering if it gets a better seal with a metal rocker
StueyB 0 Posted July 18, 2012 Was the rocker cover gasket changed as well..? The two types of cover have two different gaskets, I found this out the hard way. I was also under that impression the plastic cover allowed more heat to escape from the top of the engine than the metal ones hence the later golfs all had plastic. Could be tosh but i guess in theory it makes sense.
