carrots 1 Posted September 19, 2012 hi my steering pump has always made a bit of a noise on full lock but since having new tyres its worse.so i might need to change it in the near furture.whats the cost of them and how hard are they to change.getting sick of people turning around and saying whats that noise when it starts squealing Quote Share this post Link to post Share on other sites
KIPVW 0 Posted September 19, 2012 Depends weather you want VAG or not, if not then carparts 4 less instead of euro car parts as they are a fair bit cheaper. did mine on the vr recently and wasn't a bad job at all not sure if it'll be easier on the valver but i'm guessing so, although tackled it over a few days as i have a daily too. davidwort 0 Posted September 19, 2012 hi my steering pump has always made a bit of a noise on full lock but since having new tyres its worse.so i might need to change it in the near furture.whats the cost of them and how hard are they to change.getting sick of people turning around and saying whats that noise when it starts squealing they're not cheap, even pattern/refurb ones, I'd imagine somewhere from 100-150 quid, the important thing is to make sure you get the right hub offset for the pulley, they're are 2 on the 16v's and the wrong one will mean your pulleys don't line up. They're not too bad to change, as the PAS belt is the outermost, just make sure you slacken all the mounting nuts otherwise you won't be able to shift the adjuster bolt and/or you will damage it.
