captainredeye 0 Posted September 27, 2012 If you want them badly give stealth a call, if you go for second hand they are not going to be that much cheaper , one bit of kit that keeps it value.
jimbob88 10 Posted September 27, 2012 im in no mad rush for em but it'd be nice to have em. is the remap done on the rolling road or can the ecu be flashed on the bench?
captainredeye 0 Posted September 27, 2012 Not to sure about the map but would of thought a mapping session specific to your car would be best, rather than a generic chip
VR6Pete 0 Posted September 27, 2012 Second that ^^^
jimbob88 10 Posted September 28, 2012 so stealth would be out of the window for me as im up in yorkshire, would need to look round for a local tuner
VAG-hag 0 Posted September 28, 2012 Stealth isnt too bad a journey mate and they know these cams, engines & maps very well.
Jim 2 Posted September 28, 2012 Worth the trip down to see someone who knows what they're doing!
jimbob88 10 Posted September 28, 2012 360 mile round trip is a bit extreme for a e remap in my eyes guys
dr_mat 0 Posted September 28, 2012 It's easier to justify when you're travelling from darn sarf.. the 140 mile round trip is worth it for the saving on two hours labour for me ..
captainredeye 0 Posted September 28, 2012 I have looked around for alternative places to get a map done and there ain't to many options problem being you need someone who has mapped a vr6 before, I have even tried dialynx and they were not prepared to touch it as they were not familiar with the engine and they are a vw/audi specialist. dr_mat 0 Posted September 28, 2012 It's an old car, and it's NA - the gains are marginal and people's pockets aren't deep. Paying to rechip when you'll gain 5bhp is a luxury most can't be bothered with when any modern 20vT will give you 100bhp for the same money. The engine tuners can't make much money by knowing about these old engines. Stealth are different - they are *so* hooked into the Corrado "scene" that it's well worth his while. VR6Pete 0 Posted September 28, 2012 170 mile round trip for me but I wouldn't go anywhere else :)
jimbob88 10 Posted September 29, 2012 ah well its a day out then eh :) i certainly wouldnt let any goon mess with it, but this is all just research at this point while i justify the spend to the missus
VR6Pete 0 Posted September 29, 2012 Im the same. Only 3 people have ever worked on my VR's in 9 years!.. I've even stayed over some times at stealth. There's was a nice hotel about 5 minute drive away, don't know if it still is?
