nickeboy 0 Posted October 1, 2012 (edited) Does any one have a scan of the Bentley manual on how to fit and particularly how to pre tension the rear beam on a vr6 as I will be doing it this week. I have it all stripped and will have bushes in tomorrow, I expect I will change the brackets also as a precausion, it took a knock to the rear wheel, bent the beam or at least the stub and this is the reason for replacement. I would very much like to know how the manual suggests doing this. Thanks Nick Edited October 2, 2012 by davidwort
nickeboy 0 Posted October 2, 2012 Should the rear bushes push in all the way until they can not go in any more or be more centred in there?
davidwort 0 Posted October 2, 2012 I'm not totally familiar with the VR6 ones, but the 4cyl ones seem to go in 'all the way', don't over-do it though better to not push them quite far enough, offer the beam up and then press them further if necessary. Manual is a bit sketchcy but I think the basic idea is to make sure there is no slack side-to-side to allow movement of the beam when bolted up.
