Jon_vr6 1 Posted February 10, 2013 Just took apart a spare vr6 inlet manifold and took the throttle body off and noticed pieces of swarf/metal inside i presume the engine it came off had some problems. Anyway whats the best way to get all the swarf bits out? Im going to get it vapour blasted but want all that metal out of the inside before i take it down Cheers Jon
winchbietch 0 Posted February 10, 2013 Hi Jon Best way i found was to fill a bath with hot water and flash liquid and leave it submerged for a while. Then come back and spray the intakes with oven cleaner, slosh it back and forth rinsing it through the bath water a few times till its clear, then finish with a shower and leave to drain or blow it oil with a airline blower. I did my manifold after shot blasting / powdercoating and although i had blanked all the intakes prior to their work i was suprised how much crap gets inside. Manifold comes up like new. knight5651 0 Posted February 10, 2013 I did my 16v inlet manifold in the dish washer lol :D cleaned it up fairly well. I'd advise waiting until the lady of the house is out though ;) I've also heard about oven cleaner as stated above but never tried it myself.
