VR6 0 Posted April 10, 2003 Is it possible to mod the MFA to default to oil temp (or whatever you like)?
Scott 0 Posted April 10, 2003 Is it possible to mod the MFA to default to oil temp (or whatever you like)? Another one that sets it for oil temp when first starts the car and watches the figure raise to 80degC then hits the throttle *;)
qrugh 0 Posted April 11, 2003 Isn't that what everyone does? Thought I was normal!
Scott 0 Posted April 11, 2003 Isn't that what everyone does? Thought I was normal! Yup *:) The missus takes mick cos as soon as start car - I hit the MFA to change it to oil temps... then plug in the snooper, then stick stereo in before moving off *:)
dubboy 0 Posted April 11, 2003 Sure is the only real thing i look at on the MFA, used to do it on my Golf too. Be intrested if there is a way to reset it as the default reading. 8)
H8RRA 0 Posted April 30, 2003 ANYONE KNOW WHY MY MFA doesn't display outside air temperature??? Nothing displays at all at the last press of the button and just returns to the time???????
Andi 2,147,483,647 Posted April 30, 2003 That'll be a faulty temp. sensor. I have the same - occasionally works when the engine bay is very hot - otherwise it just skips past it. Try cleaning your temp sensor (should be poking out of the lowest grill under the bumper, or the left hand side as you look at the front of the car) with some WD40 or something. Else its £60-odd to replace by VW. Personally, I'm not that bothered... ;)
stormseeker 0 Posted June 13, 2003 Is it possible to mod the MFA to default to oil temp (or whatever you like)? Shouldn't be too difficult to knock up a small circuit that connects to the MFA push button switch wiring and an ignition feed and just simulates pushing the switch 5 times shortly after the ignition is switched on. Watch this space.... :)
G60Jet 1 Posted June 13, 2003 Anyone ever used the outside air temp as a charge temp sensor!! how cheap would that be, no gauge and on the dash!!
Furkz 0 Posted June 13, 2003 erm im curious not a lot of ppl rely on the MFA when it come to the MPG readin so why rely on it when looking at oil temp surely that section must be unrealiable too
Andi 2,147,483,647 Posted June 13, 2003 I would suspect the voltage reading of a temp. sensor would be more accurate than a vacuum reading for the MPG.
Joe M 0 Posted June 14, 2003 Dunno, when i had the 16v in for an mot the mfa said 96 but there oil probe thingy said 82.
stormseeker 0 Posted June 14, 2003 But MoT probe thingy looks at the sump & MFA probe is on top of the oil filter housing - bound to be different???
