livi1982 0 Posted June 7, 2013 Looking for a bit of advise, went to drive Corrado and its not turning over. Battery and handbrake light come on as normal, oil and coolant flash as normal. Coolant light goes off, battery and handbrake stay on with oil flashing. Check oil and level is fine, checked battery and it is fine. It's like the immobilizer is on but it's not as dash lights come on. Alarm central locking doesn't seem to be working either.
VAG-hag 0 Posted June 7, 2013 Immobiliser usually lets you fire but then cuts out..... ignition switch maybe?
livi1982 0 Posted June 7, 2013 Had a look about and that seems to be the common answer. http://www.corrado-club.ca/forum/viewtopic.php?t=8617 Give this a go. If its an easy fix for less than a tenner I can dry my eyes.
livi1982 0 Posted June 8, 2013 Swapped over the ignition switch and still nothing. Anything else minor it could be?
Portent 0 Posted June 8, 2013 It still might be worth charging the battery or having it checked. If it isn't producing enough ampage then the lights will come on as normal but it won't have enough power to turn over. Long shot but worth a check. livi1982 0 Posted June 8, 2013 Got it sorted, needed a new battery. Initial battery checks seemed fine but wasn't holding charge properly.
G60radoboi 10 Posted June 9, 2013 I seem to have the same issue, car fires and runs for about three seconds then just dies. Where is the ignition switch located so I can have a look into this. It is on a late valver by the way.

Here is a guide for a jetta/golf - but pretty much the same thing on the Corrado - maybe a bit less to remove (can't remember) - but sits the same place etc: http://forums.vwvortex.com/showthread.php?3421753-Here-is-an-ignition-switch-removal-procedure
