Replacement Bonnet foam and hot weather

Recommended Posts

Just something people may want to check out. I fitted that bonnet foam from the group buy, its been on since about December 2012 and has been fine.

But with the hot weather we had yesterday, i happened to notice when lifting the bonnet that all the glue holding it on had softened and three of the bits had mostly come off and just hanging down onto the engine

Which was nice!

I used the glue it said to use on the instructions and took a while to find a place that sold it as well. Think it was 3M #80 Spray adhesive.

I just used white spirits to remove the old glue, once you have pulled the foam off you have a layer of glue, i just spent a while softening it with white spirts then scraping it off with a credit card or plastic ice scraper. Takes quite a bit of time, but cleans up like new.

White spirits? Girl :D

Crack open the manly glue thinners and do it in a tenth of the time!

Trouble is, it's difficult buying chemicals these days because of all the junkie glue sniffers.
