jedi-knight83 0 Posted May 13, 2004 My MOT is next week. 2 questions. 1. My ABS light is on more often now a days and i havent got round to changing the pump. Would i pass if i just took the warning light out for that day or is there other ways they can detect that its not working??? I know its slightly illegal but i just havent had time to fix it and at the end of the day its not life threatening is it! 2. My horn still wont work which i know is a fail item. Where is the blasted thing located? Ta
dr_mat 0 Posted May 13, 2004 Q1: they must check that the light is lit during the engine start cycle, then that it goes out and stays out for the remainder of the test. You'll need to be lucky... can't help ya with the other one.. sorry..

daves16v 1 Posted May 13, 2004 At my MOT the light was intermittantly on and off.......they knew that but because I was taking steps to sort it they let me off. They even suggested a VW specialist who could help. What a lucky bugger :)
Henny 0 Posted May 13, 2004 mine only comes on at 45mph + so I passed my MOT with no problems... ;) I'll get my arse in gear soon and fit the new rear rotors to sort the problem once and for all!
coolrado 0 Posted May 13, 2004 dont really know about the abs problem a mate of mine who works at an mot station said if the lights on it will fail but i think the horn is just behind the grill if its not there that could be why its not working SOMEONES NICKED IT
jedi-knight83 0 Posted May 13, 2004 ah, well mine is not behind the grill. i thought it might be hidden in the bumper somewhere....maybe thats why then! better gets myself a horn then....so to speak
Henny 0 Posted May 13, 2004 IIRC there are 2 locations for the horns on Corrados... Either just behind the grill (where it is on my G60) or down in the drivers side of the engine bay just behind the bumper (that's where it was on my 16V) I think it changed depending on if you had a dual or single tone horn... seanoVR 0 Posted May 13, 2004 I thought the horn on a VR6 was at the top of the bulkhead on the drivers side?? :?
Henny 0 Posted May 13, 2004 ...could beeee.... [/Hong Kong Phooey] I've not had a VR, so it's entirely possible there are more than 2 locations for the horns on a Corrado then....
Kevin Bacon 5 Posted May 13, 2004 All Cs are dual-tone horns. On the VR, I'm pretty sure they are located by the passenger side wheel arch, where the G60 intercooler would normall live.
jedi-knight83 0 Posted May 13, 2004 whats a dual tone horn? something to do with the standard alarm???
Henny 0 Posted May 13, 2004 dual tone horns have 2 sounders, one higher pitch, one lower pitch... Nothing to do with the alarm, it just sounds better! 8)
