ausgolfer 0 Posted August 5, 2013 Hello all, I have been getting a strange axle tramp feeling when letting the clutch out in 1st. I thought it was the engine mounts, and the front mount was buggered but have replaced them all, but the problem is still there. Feels like the whole exhaust is about to fall off if I try to take off quick. Any ideas what the problem might be?
davidwort 0 Posted August 5, 2013 wishbone bushes and suspension top mounts OK?
ausgolfer 0 Posted August 5, 2013 I think the top mounts might be a bit average but I've never experienced this problem with buggered top mounts in any other car.
davidwort 0 Posted August 5, 2013 just trying to think what gets significant forces applied when pulling away, you can get some wierd things going on with worn dampers, but it's usually engine mounts or rear wishbone bushes, anything that allows the geometry to shift about, do you know if the wheel alignment is OK? Jim Bowen 1 Posted August 5, 2013 I've found parking the car and then getting out and trying to push/roll the front wheel back and forth is a good way to test the wishbone bushes. My wheel was shaking about in the wheel arch.
