dr_mat 0 Posted May 19, 2004 .. see if we can help STORM 2 get hold of a solitude cheaper than the £400 he's been quoted from VAG? There's four tatty ones on a Golf GTi in our company car park... No locking nuts either... ;) ;)
vr6storm 0 Posted May 19, 2004 STORM2 if you get contact details for martin hyland from the VWCCGB i'm sure he might be able to help you out......pretty sure he has more than one set of BBS solitudes that he might consider selling.........ive got 2 spare ones here but A)they have a slight silver sparkle effect powder coat to them,B)they have been refurbed but they werent that great shape before so although refurbed well they have a few wee minor blemishes and C) i would be looking at £30 for one + carriage :) which could make it more economical for you to buy a 2nd hand refurbed set  ...........not sure how much they weigh but will try and find out a price for carriage for you
vr6storm 0 Posted May 19, 2004 Yeah - 9x16 Borbets ANY day Actually Roddy, I think you'll find it was JimsG60 who mentioned Borbets first in this thread and not me......, But anyway, everyone is entitled to their own opinion, however, personal comments in an open forum about the price of something a member is trying to sell does not really help. I don't think it really matters how many times the wheels have changed hands or how long I have had the wheels, what matters is how rare they are and the price I am selling them for now compared to buying them new....,I don't think this type of wheel depreciates in value that much over 6 months  And if you read it correctly, I am actually asking for £700 o.n.o, which means offers near that figure..., But again thanks for your valuable insight :D BigEastsideVWG60 Storm2 sorry for this hi-jack but i'm wanting this cleared up right struan first off jim mentioned borbets.........you mentioned borbet B's......if you look back you'll see i also never said you mentioned Borbets first and if you feel so strongly about personal comments about what ppl have for sale perhaps you forgot your little dig at the guy with the 93 reg C VR6 that was wanting over £5k for it and yes it does matter how many times wheels have changed hands........cos it all depends on how they get treated too.........funny how in your e-bay listing you use the picture of the wheels on the guy's car who sold them to u...........and yet the only picture you have of them on you motor is a very crap low-res one that shows no-detail whatsoever of the condition they are in also they maybe are rare wheels, but given that you don't give them the care and attention wheels like that "deserve"(like washing them regularly) you can't compare them with what they cost new.......and make it seem that they are an absolute bargain which IMHO they aren't........FFS i bought a set of 2nd-hand-unused BBS/BMW split-rims(pretty much the same style as the RS001's and inc new fuldas) for my BMW compact 5 years ago(from a BMW specialist dealer) for not much more than you are wanting for yours........... BigTartanJudge 0 Posted May 19, 2004 Yeah right whatever Roddy...., It's great being a moderator isnt' it, editing posts and all...., It's none of your business how I treat my wheels, how do you know how often I clean my wheels, are you stalking me or something ?? and yet the only picture you have of them on you motor is a very crap low-res one that shows no-detail whatsoever of the condition they are in That's because I don't have any decent pictures of them on my car, and you have no right to speculate in an open forum about what YOU think about the condition of my wheels, not exactly helpful or responsible is it ? guy with the 93 reg C VR6 that was wanting over £5k for it Yes I am entitled to my own opinion especially when it's backed up by the fact that such a price is over-optimistic judging by book values, dealer values, Autotrader prices etc. Funny how he has dropped his price now too isn't it..,? TBH I'm not really interested in how much of a bargain you think you got when you bought the wheels for your BMW, this is totally different and your not rying to sell a set of wheels, despite some peoples best efforts..., Consider it straightened Only in your opinion..., Maybe it's best this thread was returned to it's original subject as I am getting sick of the snide comments which are helping no-one, Regards BigEastsideVWG60
