mic_VR 3 Posted October 3, 2013 I have to ask, why not just buy a VR6 and sell the valver?
Sean_Jaymo 0 Posted October 3, 2013 Vr6's are cheap enough so why not swap cars? It's not difficult but to do it to vr6 spec, you need potentially new wider front wings, new hubs, new drive shafts, new wishbones, new gearbox clutch and flywheel, uprated fuel pump, different wiring, different clocks for the Rev counter to work, uprated front suspension for the extra weight, bigger arb, new front end of exhaust system and presumably other little bits. Even if you found all of that cheap and never spent the money renewing bushes and bearings or cleaning them up, your still looking at close to a grand. A decent valver (which you must have if The contemplating all this work) and a grand and you should pick up a half decent vr6 which will work properly out of the box. davidwort 0 Posted October 3, 2013 yes, I agree, just buy a VR6 in the first place. the only reason I can think of doing it would be if you have a mint bodied 16v with a blown engine and a rusty and battered but mechanically sound VR.
Jim 2 Posted October 3, 2013 Agreed - just buying the VR6 seems the most logical thing to do :) Unless you're particularly attached to your 16v for whatever reason (condition, or other work you've done on it, or a rare colour or something).
brettski 0 Posted October 3, 2013 Well reason being my valver has everything a vr has except the engine tbh and it's had a full repaint and is totally rust free and low mileage I just love have put that much time into my valver that I would prefare to put a vr in it and whilst it is out I can repaint the bay the engine etc and it will be mint and I know exactly what's been done to it for my own piece of mind If that makes sence

dragon green 5 Posted October 3, 2013 Why not go 20vt,less work, and more power then the Vr !
mic_VR 3 Posted October 3, 2013 ^^^^ what he said. I love my vr but I'd be looking at a 20vt if I was you.
Sean_Jaymo 0 Posted October 3, 2013 If you want high fuel, mediocre power and an awesome sound go vr6 or if you want fairly high fuel, great power and an average noise, go 20vt! Similar price minus remap.
