Is there sealing gaskets between AC hose and the compressor?

Recommended Posts

Any gaskets here - or is it replacement of the compressor that have to be done when there is a leak in the connections going into the compressor?.

I'm pretty sure it is just an o-ring.

I have the front of my Corrado apart doing various jobs including replacing the condenser and o-rings. I don't have the compressor hoses off yet, but can check and get you the size of o-ring if it helps.

Usually just an O ring. I would invest in a sniff test by an air con specialist if you are trying to find leaks.

I have got a ac guy to put trace fluid in it, as the pressure test was fine, but over time it seem to leak out over time on what seem to be both lines into the compressor.

Yea that would be nice - also if you could take some pictures of the hose with the gaskets etc that would be appreciated :)

This is the area mine is leaking in - only leaking slightly over time......could it be the complete compressor needing to be replaced?:

Mawrick,

If it helps, here are some photos of my compressor and the o-rings. It looks like a different model to yours?

Not sure - mine is like the "top" one of the ones pictured here:

The lines seem to be secured in place with a bracket and one screw - marked 12A on the picture.

But having a hard time figuring out what o-rings are used here, and the dealer say they can't get them here (the norwegian dealers don't always carry all of the older VW parts, even if they are available from VW...:( )

I'v gotten a confirmation that the seals are the same on another Forum.

Any of you guys know if there are available thru VW in UK? (and maybe price) - anywhere one could order them online from VW in UK ?

Mawrick, I've just ordered a box of HNBR o-rings for aircon use. If you know what size you need I may be able to post you a couple (assuming I have spares). Can you get the size number of the old o-rings?

Is 20.35 a "size" - at least that was what the dealer gave me for dimensions.

Hi Mawrick. Sorry. I don't have an o-ring in that size....I guess it should be a pretty standard size so can't be too hard to source from a garage.
