Where does this wire go.

Recommended Posts

Evening chums,

I've got the front in bits and cant work out where this wire goes.

It's the one hanging over the sub-frame, single wire with a white plug on it, yellow wire with a black stripe.

Many thanks.

Rog.

I "Think" on some later IE 94 and on cars, that wire is there in the loom as something to do with aircon. But I thought the wire was black with a yellow stripe and not yellow with a black stripe as you said. It's a power feed for sensors and takes it's feed from the fan module.

As I said, this is what I think it is, not necessarily what it actually is.

I thought it was something to do with oil pressure or temp that is no longer connected as you have the pressure sender on the housing..

I have the same wire, it is nicely hidden away but still there..

I could be wrong mind..

Well curiosity has taken over and I dug out my wiring diagrams and on all years (according the to the drawings I have) the wires for the oil pressure switches are either blue/black or yellow.

I'm having a look to see what the yellow/black is now!

The only consistent Yel/Blk that I can find (at a quick glance!) is for the cabin fan. But the fan module does have a feed to/from the A/C system if it is fitted... Maybe it's an interlock to only turn on A/C if the fan is running?

Thats my theory out the window..

I don't remember the wire on my old one but that did have zircon so the wiring was all over the shop in places..

Somebody is bound to come along soon and say that's the wire for the flux capacitor or something else completely different soon anyhow!

Cheers guys, so it looks like its for AC then and I can simply tuck it away somewhere.

I was worried I've disconnected it but I can't find anywhere it would go.

Yeah it's not connected Rog, it usually follows the oil pressure sender wires and just hangs loose at the guide part. Mines just tucked back in on itself and out of the way.
