Witace12 10 Posted October 31, 2014 My radiator fan that comes on when stopped is now making loads of noise, ive looked, and it appears to be a 'rubber seal'or O-ring on the centre of the fan come loose, so im assuming its running dry, which is grim. I've taken a video for those who really need to see/hear it, but i'd have to make an account on a vid host website, but you can see the ring is loose. If you're leaning under the bonnet, it's on the fan on your right. I'm useless under the bonnet but have the funds. Should it not be driven?
Jim Bowen 1 Posted October 31, 2014 There have been a couple of examples on the forum where the fan has seized and caught fire, so i'd be careful driving it, or just not drive it. If its a VR6 then quite a few people are changing the fan for SPAL ones, but you need custom brackets.
Jim 2 Posted October 31, 2014 Agree with Jims comments.. VR6 radiator fans are a known to sieze and set on fire so I would avoid using it until you can get it replaced!
seanl82 23 Posted October 31, 2014 Standard sized fans are available from veedubmachine too if you want to retain the standard bracketry and looks.
