CCGB National Day 2015

Recommended Posts

Based on last year, I arrived at around 7:00 :bonk:, only to find we still had to queue to get in. Folk kept on arriving but stories of people having to queue for considerable lengths of time were heard.

Spoke to a neighbour this morning, who'd been to the Cosford airshow a few week ago, where they left Coventry at 7:00, and got to the show by 15:00 (!!), queuing all the way along the M54 (both lanes gridlocked because of the airshow - RIAT only has B-roads leading to it, and it is much bigger an airshow than Cosford). Having said that, the organisers and police do block off certain B-roads and turn them into dual-carriage ways leading into the show.

All I can say is try to be there as early as you can.

I'm probably looking at leaving somewhere between 5:00 and 5:30

any back roads into venue.... big events like this I study the local OS map first, avoid all the directed signs into the event and have fun down smaller roads

Give them a chance. It's a full days event - I should imagine most of them are still there or maybe only just starting to make the trip home!!

Common people where's the pictures

You will have to wait until tomorrow for my pictures :) been in long enough to unpack, shower & eat. Yes, traffic was heavy to say the least and I missed a traffic diversion which meant my 2 hour drive there was a 3.5 hr drive home !

Many other folk will have had a much longer drive than me though.

Didn't detract from a brilliant weekend though, enjoyed very much the camping & pub Saturday night , great company :)

The air show was awesome and went on quite late, I didn't leave until after 5pm with some others, but left many still enjoying the sunshine and the show.

Many thanks to all who organised this :thumbleft:

Congrats to Matt & Chris on their tropheys, very well deserved

Nice one Harrier! :)

Really wanted to go to RIAT with my C - but now no C :(

So how was it?

Was there any special converted/nodded C s on show?

Who showed up from CCUK?

Any awards?

Thanks all for attending, what a marvellous day it was, sunshine, heat, noise (jets, Spitties and Hurricanes, Vulcan, oh and Rados). Will be back next year.
