Bfstrachan 10 Posted October 3, 2015 Just about to pick up my 1st Corrado a 1.8 16v. Went from a mk2 Scirocco to a mk4 Golf and now need something a bit more classic again. Is the 1.8 16v a decent pick? Was looking to get VR6 but the cost was a little prohibitive. Looking forward to the journey :)

seanl82 23 Posted October 4, 2015 Congrats on your purchase! I preferred the 1.8 over the 2.0 16v personally, but you do need to rev it to get the best out of it. The 2.0 has more torque low down but felt very flat to me. The 1.8 really pulled well above 3.5k rpm. For some reason, parts are a bit cheaper on the earlier cars too which is a bonus. Gets some pics when it arrives, and what are your plans with it mate? :)
Billzeebub 1 Posted October 4, 2015 Welcome. I had a 2.0 16v as my first Corrado, really good memories of it and with less weight up front many prefer the handling of the 16v. Look forward to seeing some photos of it and hearing how you get on with it. That VR6 will probably follow at some stage!
Bfstrachan 10 Posted October 4, 2015 Thanks! Plans are to get it up here and check is all mechanically sound. Have a lot of experience with the m4 golf (AUM) and the mk2 scirocco (DX) engines, but nothing with the 16v - so will take it slow as far as that goes. Want to put the BBS RC 16" wheels - if I can find a set. No doubt I will be on here a bit getting to grips with the car - looking forward to the journey!
