Bfstrachan 10 Posted October 20, 2015 Just taken ownership of a 1.8 16v. When I am turning at very low speeds - pulling out of a parking space or at crawl on half or full lock, it is a bit clumpy. At speed it's fine, but at low speeds its lees than smooth. Any help would be great!
g0ldf1ng3r 15 Posted October 20, 2015 hello m8 i had a similar issue with my valver a couple of weeks ago check your power steering belt for tension & also check that the pulleys are aligned properly my pulleys were slightly out of line & though i have the correct new power steering belt fitted it had stretched a little & was slipping - this was causing it to feel very clunky when turning at low speeds. it also produced a classic belt slipping chirp occasionally. FYI as part of getting it back on the road it had a new steering rack & much of the running gear EDIT: if you are unsure which belt i mean it is the lowest one on the drivers side of the engine block
