Jim Bowen 1 Posted January 5, 2016 Are there two different pads for the 288mm conversion, Reason is i've had them on for years without any issue. But after my recent work they now catch the wheel weights very slightly, have had to pull the weights off and remount them as far towards the wheel face as possible and still they slightly catch. Started to wonder if its because its new discs and pads and maybe a thicker pad than i had before. Meaning the calipers are pushed slightly further outwards. I think just driving and wearing the pads down bit will sort it out.
Thursdave 10 Posted January 5, 2016 Calipers will be in the same place no matter what pad thickness, as they're self adjusting. What recent work have you had done?

I thought the outside edge of the caliper might be a bit further out if the pad was thicker. Did lots of work, pretty much replaced the whole car
seanl82 23 Posted January 5, 2016 I had it before on my old mk3 Golf Jim. I couldn't work it out for a while as I couldn't replicate the ticking I was getting at speed, but it was where I'd had the tyres replaced and the weights were doing exactly that and very very slightly catching the caliper. That was with standard 15" wheels on the standard 288mm brakes so it's not just you don't worry! Lol.
