Jim 2 Posted January 17, 2016 Welcome aboard! How far into the Corrado do you plan to go in terms of tidying it up, etc? Love the 993 too - prices for those are going crazy! :)
S1mon 10 Posted January 17, 2016 Thanks Jim, I think it really depends on overall condition. I've been told by the owner he thinks I will be pleasantly surprised so we will see. But knowing me it will probably get the full treatment !! Simon
seanl82 23 Posted January 17, 2016 Welcome to the forum and congrats on your purchase Simon! It's a very reasonable price even if it does need a little work. Like Jim I too love the 993, and is a car I aspire to own, even if it is way out of my reach currently! Where in Sussex are you? Seem to be quite a few down here on the South coast between Dorset - Hampshire - Sussex, so it's an ideal time (when the weather gets a bit better) for a meet. Always good to meet new owners and new cars! :thumbleft:
S1mon 10 Posted January 17, 2016 Thanks Sean, i'm based just on the Sussex / Kent border outside of Tunbridge Wells. A meet would be great when it warms up - Always nice to have a chat with like minded people about our cars !! The Porsche is very special to me, I purchased it about 18 months ago before they really shot up in value, howver a few quid has been sunk into it to get it spot on. It's a C2 Coupe, manual, Varioram - If your ever in the area I will take you out for a spin in it (Bring your slippers !) SR_Neale 10 Posted January 17, 2016 Welcome. I know how a quick tart up can soon turn into a full on resto. Just bought a cheap G60 with blown engine for parts but decided it was in to good condition to pull apart so now giving it a full respray lol. Enjoy
S1mon 10 Posted January 17, 2016 Thanks guys for the warm welcome, I look forward to meeting some of you soon, and will start a project thread when the fun begins !! Anyone have any ideas what the flat spot at around 2k rpm maybe?
Harrier 1 Posted January 17, 2016 Welcome along :) another here on the south coast :) Maf sensor is a possibility for the flat spot, best to get it scanned first though
16VG60 1 Posted January 17, 2016 Wellcome Simon, excellent to have another Corrado safe in the ownership of a passionate enthusiast. From your previous projects it is clear that you the right credentials to ensure the future and good looks of this latest acquisition. I love your 993, which in my opinion is quite the most beautiful 911 ever. Good to hear you are local, a fellow Sussex man. I look forward to seeing you at shows, Goodwood, my workshop , in the near future. Regards, John Mitchell
S1mon 10 Posted January 17, 2016 It seems quite a few of us are based round Sussex; which is ideal with VW Heritage in Shoreham. It's nice to be able to get most bits from them over the counter, and they seem a friendly bunch of lads. The T25 had loads of bits from there, as no doubt will the Corrado ! God I love a new project !! - Plan at the moment is standard all the way, but we will see, things can always change !!

S1mon 10 Posted January 18, 2016 Just wondering, what style alloys would have been fitted when new?
16VG60 1 Posted January 18, 2016 Most likely would have been the Speedline five spoke in silver finish Simon. It is possible that the wheels could have been changed at Dealer with UK Dealer options, but even so it would have been imported with Speedlines. 16VG60 1 Posted January 18, 2016 I'm sure you are familiar with the Speedline wheel but here's a pic of some on one our customers Corrados which we recently re-furnished.
S1mon 10 Posted January 18, 2016 John, your a gent. Thank you... Just gives me an idea what I'm looking for in time. Spoke to the current owner today, he advises that the sunroof needs a repair (surprise suprise) but the abs light is not on, and the timing chains were changed a little while ago which is a positive sign hopefully !! 16VG60 1 Posted January 18, 2016 . That has just amused me Simon. Not for your displeasure at the required repair, I might add, but because I was in a lengthy conversation with Evo magazine today to advise them on all points ref an article they are writing on buying a used VR6 and all of those things you just mentioned I highlighted in my points to note on this subject to the Editor. Sunroof for Corrado is a huge issue, as new spares do not exist, unless you can locate new old stock with private individuals. Most owners source what they need from breakers, but this too is fraught with "danger". Am always happy to help if you need advice.
S1mon 10 Posted January 18, 2016 It's amazing how much information you can find on the net by doing a little research, hence were I found those pointers (and watching the wheeler dealers clip on YouTube !) Thanks again, I'm sure I will pick your brains at some point, and look forward to a meet up soon, I may pop down your garage for a chat at some point, sure I can probably throw some business your way with this and the T25 !!
