chopper666 10 Posted February 15, 2016 Hi I've just noticed that the rear gearbox cradle/engine mount has completely sheared off from I think it's the cross member piece. Has anyone had this problem before or knows anyway to fix it. Was thinking of trying to weld a new piece of metal into the cradle then welding it back onto the crossmember. You can completely lift the engine straight off it as it's not connected to anything. I doubt I would be able to by the cradle and the piece it's connected to no more but any help or advice would be much appreciated Thanks
Jim Bowen 1 Posted February 15, 2016 Is it a VR6? The mount can be unbolted and replaced. Its made of alloy so not straight forward welding
chopper666 10 Posted February 15, 2016 Yeah mate its a vr6 it's completely sheared off from I believe it's the crossmember it connects too. So the engine completely comes off with the mount and cradle it sits in
Jim Bowen 1 Posted February 15, 2016 Oh crikey i see what you mean. They do rust around the edges of the mounting bits, so worth checking the whole thing over.
chopper666 10 Posted February 15, 2016 It's bad it does look rusted away hopefully I will be able to weld a piece onto the cradle as I doubt you will be able to buy the full piece no more
