Heater

Hi all, Anyone have any advise on my heater problem got hold of a nice 1.8 16v last week all good except the heater blower work on all settings but it blows warmish for a short time then just cold, new to corrado ownership so any advise would be helpful. Thanks

Thermostat mate. It'll be stuck open so the heaters will get warm whilst you're stationary, the go cold when travelling. It a pain in the arris to do on a 1.8 16v too! Not expensive and not particularly difficult, just time consuming and a little awkward.

Thought as much do you know where it is? could probably do with getting a manual.

There isn't really a workshop manual for the 1.8 16v but it does share quite a few things in common with the 2.0 16v - certainly stuff like the cooling system and so forth will be functionally very similar.

 

This Haynes manual for the Passat covers the 2.0 16v / 9A engine so might be worth a punt:

You need to access it from underneath and it right at the bottom of the system, so you'll need to drain the coolant. You need to move the pas pump out of the way to access it too. It's on a geared bolt which tensions the aux belt, and the state is behind a plastic cover. It should all become clear once you're under there mate.

The KR engine is in common on the mk2 Golf GTI 16v too, so you may be able to use a manual for that mate.

There's also this workshop manual which I think I have somewhere, and may help you out. I don't remember thinking it was especially excellent and comprehensive though :)
